Darryl Russell family – fire recovery efforts
BALLWIN, MO/January 7, 2016 (DineOutSTL.com) On Wednesday, January 4, 2017, the home occupied by Darryl Russell, a 36 year veteran at Candicci’s Restaurant and Bar, located in Ballwin, MO lost his home to a fire that started on the back porch and trapped the family in the second floor of the house.
Being the loving father, spouse and grandfather he is, he rushed to save the family vacating everybody out of the house before saving himself..which included throwing his 2-day old grandson out the window trusting those below to catch him.
To make a heart wrenching story short, all made it to safety most spending a couple of days in the hospital for smoke inhalation.
However, the bad news is that they lost everything! Including news cloths and a crib for the new grandson.
The grandson arrived from the hospital approximately 6:30 that evening only to be subjected to smoke and fire, thrown from the second floor and transported back to the hospital for smoke inhalation. What a way to start life!
Bob Candice, manger of Candicci’s Restaurant, employer to Darryl for 36 years is stepping up to help promote support for the family. While Candice is doing all he can personally and professionally, he needs the support of the community to provide what is necessary to put the family back on their feet.
He has created a GoFundMe page and has a Dine Out planned for Monday, January 16th, 2017. A portion of sales will be given to the family.
